Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest draws adventurers from far and near for Columbus weekend activities Fort Myers Beach: The 5th Annual Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest draws adventurers from far and near to enjoy Columbus weekend activities with historical re-enactments, period correct encampments, black powder demonstrations, Sea Shanties and more. The 5th Anniversary event will take place on Old San Carlos Boulevard during Columbus Day Weekend, October 8-10, 2010 and will include hundreds of professional actors and actresses from across the state and beyond who choreograph their performances for months in advance of the show, bringing one of the most exciting events of the year to Fort Myers Beach. Family friendly activities will include a treasure hunt, costume contests, roving musicians, strolling street performers, stage shows, sea skirmishes and interactive games with pirates. Adult friendly activities will include a Pirates gathering and costume contest on Friday night, a leisurely and ongoing weekend long tavern excursion throughout the beach region and a pirate tattoo contest. Visitors from near and far are tempted to witness Old San Carlos Boulevard transform into a pirate’s haven! Guests are encouraged to garb up as their favorite buccaneer, swashbuckler or movie themed pirate character and join the excitement while reliving a few golden days of piracy. 100% of the profits from the event, hosted by the Historic Fort Myers Beach-Bay Walk, will benefit The Fort Myers Beach Lions, a private 501c3 organization, who is dedicated to serving the needs of those less fortunate in the immediate community.
